Surrey Nurturing Links Parenting Puzzle
The Parenting puzzle is a 10 week course that encourages parents and carers to enjoy bringing up children and get the best out of family life. It offers positive, practical ways of guiding children so that they learn to handle both their feelings and their behaviour. The course is informal, fun and a great confidence booster. It is held on Monday afternoons (with a creche) and/or Monday evenings (without creche) at Dorking Nursery School Children's Centre and is open to parents and carers of children of all ages.
There is a cost for the course which covers the course book and refreshments, payable as £2 per week (however if you have any concerns regarding payment please give us a call in confidence). To find out more/book a place, please contact Dorking Nursery School Children's Centre on 01306 882397.
Young Parents' Group
An exciting mix of stay and play sessions for young parents and their children. A chance to meet other young parents, advice & support about your child's development coupled with adult learning opportunities and pampering courses for the parents with a free creche provided for the children. Tuesday afternoons from 1.00pm to 3.00pm at Dorking Rural Children's Centre, all year round. Contact 01306 740095 for further information.
ESOL - English for speakers of other languages - Now called ELC - Engagement with the Local Community
These courses, run by the WEA (Workers' Educational Association), are currently held at Dorking Rural Children's Centre on Monday afternoons. Please call Marianne on 01306 740095 for further information or for details of future courses.
Post-natal groups
We run 4 week post-natal courses at Dorking Rural for first time mothers on Wednesdays from 1.00pm - 3.00pm (at the same time as the health visitors' breastfeeding clinic). Please call Lesley Crunden on 01306 740095 for further information or to book a place.
EarlyBird programme for children with autism
The NAS (National Autistic Society) EarlyBird and EarlyBird Plus programmes are intensive programmes aimed at parents of children with a diagnosis of autism and are held at Dorking Nursery School Children's Centre. They are run by the Surrey Portage Early Education Support Service together with the Autism Outreach Service.

Portage Positive Play Programme
The Positive Play Programme is a home-based teaching support scheme that helps families manage their child's challenging behaviour. The programme is devised for families who have a pre-school child who is at least 2 1/2 years old, and who is causing concern due to significant behavioural difficulties.
